Excellent Devotional February 28, 2006

Peterson's Book, 365 Days in the Psalms is excellent filled with good illustrations from ancient days as well as modern. Peterson does a fine job and I highly recommend this book for those who want to know God better.

I have started many daily devotional books at various times but have found that by the end of the year, they had dropped by the way-side for one reason or another. This "One year Book of Psalms" is different. I began on January 1st and as of July am still being blessed by these daily readings. I've also found this book to be very user-friendly, in that, even missing several days, it is easy to catch up and get back on track. I'm ordering several copies of this book to give as Christmas gifts this year. It is a devotional that can be used over and over again.

This was a devotional I loved and needed. It is perfect for a 5 minute to 20 minute devotion. The Bible text is on one page and a very interesting discussion of the passage on the other page. Many of the discussions are historical and I had never heard or read of most of them. In addition, there is a poem for each day, a "word on words" (definitions), a notable quotable (from a historical figure of faith), and a Bible Networking scripture. Most pages have room for notes and I wrote my prayer requests or notes on the scripture for each day. I found it encouraging and easy to stick with. Buy the book and mark it up. bret
