Timely Book November 1, 2007 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
There is a time and a place for literature and it goes without saying, that this book is for such a time as this. I found it to be well written, full of excellent information that can be backed up, and relevant to todays needs for the body of Christ.
I'd like to see it expanded, updated periodically by the author.
Everyone who calls themselves a Christian should read this book! The body of Christ needs their eyes opened and this book would bring clarity to those who are sinking beneath the false doctrines being taught that do not line up with the word of God within the church today.
Pass this book on to everyone. It needs to be read by every pastor and everyone who calls themselves a prophet of God.
It's high time the truth be spoken loud enough to be heard. Thank you Andrew for making this book available.

It is a hard and narrow way! November 1, 2007 11 out of 16 found this review helpful
I have received ministry from people mentioned in this book. I have received life and truth from them. That being said there is a need for the prophetic to be higher and better as the times of the end approach. Art Katz is one of the true ones and now he has died. So I wholeheartedly agree with the need for the Body of Christ to raise up a strong "cry" for the true prophets to be sent by God. Words of knowledge have their place and soaking in the presence of God is valid and good, but this book makes the case that those things are not going to provide the revival of the church that is so desperately needed. A compromised messenger is going to bring a compromised message, sadly, money and the "almost worship" that some messengers are given today has led to a very watered down message, focused on "feel good" stuff. This book challenges those who will have ears to hear to put all that aside and press toward the mark of the high calling.
I recommend this book to all who have attended the various conferences and come away feeling, 'That was good, but I know there is more.'
Excellent,confusion-dispelling book October 31, 2007 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
If you have ever been even on the fringes of a prophetic "movement" that did not seem quite right--I believe you will benefit from Andrew Strom's book. I notice a thread in some of the reviews--deception, harrassing, etc. I've not been to Kansas City, but can relate (even on the fringes) of this movement that harrassment and deception are the keywords. I'm not an expert on discerning false prophets (but Andrew's book is MOST helpful in this though.) One thing about false prophets and movements--they will encourage (even subtly) for people to go after the wrong god, while still using terms most Christians recognize and accept. Andrew does a good job of nailing the root cause--we don't often fully reognize the true nature of God and it's easier to be decieved without the correct knowledge and revelation. I can't recommend Andrew's books and ministry enough. In the past I've read critism of Andrew even being involved in a corrupt movement. May I suggest--it often takes being involved in something off-base to speak in authority. The Apostle Paul was in a "wrong" movement. Most of us have been at one time. So let's appreciate this unique perspective Andrew has--and perhaps learn from it. I'd like to recommend two other books--that came to me at the same time Andrew's book did and all work together--in my opinion. The True Nature of God by Andrew Wommack; and Breaking Intimidation by John Bevere. If one wants to know more about the nature of God and how the other side will use intimidation to get us off the track--those books and Andrew Strom's book will definetely bring us back to the Bible basics that have been often buried under these movements.
Why I Left The Prophetic Movement October 31, 2007 11 out of 15 found this review helpful
Andrew Strom has removed the mystery behind what many Christians already know about the "Prophetic Movement", but haven't known who to ask about it, and that it is now a rather pathetic movement. Many Christians have been blinded and broadsided to the actual truths of the Bible, and the Holy God we are called to serve. The Prophetic (or more accurately called pathetic) Movement is more about 'man's ways to build the kingdom', than the truth about building the Lord's Kingdom through TRUTH, and Andrew has very clearly pointed out where the pathetic movement has fallen foul of the Lord's way of Life. Get your self a couple of copies, so that you can try and warn as many as you can, before they burn in Hell for being lukewarm, and worshipping man's theology.
A necessary work October 31, 2007 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
This is a solid, insightful, and easy to read book on a topic of extreme importance. The level of delusion and hype in American Christianity today is frightening. I am pleased to see someone grab the bull by the horns.
Great emphasis on a most forgotten gift. Discernment. I am sure that Andrew Strom spent much time in deep prayer before being led to write this. This book could be a "eternal lifesaver" for some.
