1 out of 5 stars Your bad experience does not justify condemning all as you have   June 13, 2008
20 out of 36 found this review helpful

By condemning the "prophetic movement" you use a broad stroke of the pen to condemn a restorational movement in which God Himself trained people in every country and almost every Spirit filled church in the entire world to hear the voice of God and speak forth with unction. Your tiny exposure to a very few men who have attempted their best to hear and speak God's word does not justify your broad attack of the "Prophetic Movement" by name. Your attack is against God and is reason for repentance and retraction on your own part lest you lead away the simple sheep of God from the idea that God speaks and they can hear. Our God is not like dumb idols; He speaks and in this hour Moses own prayer that all the Lord's people could be prophets is fulfilled. Let the wheat and tare grow together. I dont know the guys you are damning but I have personally been around thousands of prophets some flakier than others. I have been around all kinds of dancers and musicians some more anointed than others. If you feel the need to distance yourself from a few prophets, don't damn the millions of prophetic people with them. Why not just damn the Church itself. Why not throw out all Evangelicals. Why not throw out all Charismatics.

Again, PROPHETIC MOVEMENT is a term which was coined by Bill Hamon of Panama City Beach not of Kansas City to describe God's world wide activation of millions upon millions of Christians in hearing God's voice and being moved to prophesy. This movement did come; regardless of how you feel about Bill Hamon or any other prophetic individual, the mass outpouring of God's prophetic anointing has occurred. You are wrong to indict the entire move of God in the earth because of your puny experience of one conference one group of speakers and one email list that you have seen.

At this point, the imperfect saved sinner Todd Bentley ( an evangelist not a prophet) is a man approved by God with signs wonders and miracles; you are not. Put up your miracles or shut up. The men you name as prophets such as Keith Green are (was a) preachers not prophets. Prophets by definition prophesy under an unction ie there is a supernatural power released in their word which flows from the Holy Spirit.

As for the call of repentance, God is God of both John who fasts and plays a dirge and Jesus who rejoices and eats with sinners. God is raising up prophetic voices to point out sin and lead nations away from captivity Lam 2:14; but He is also raising up healing evangelists to demonstrate the power of the kingdom and lead people to devotion through the overwhelming presence of God and the healing compassion of God.

2 out of 5 stars The Christian Civil War!   June 4, 2008

The Christian Church is in a Civil War. Many Christians are unknowingly in the enemy's army, listening to the enemy's voice, and thinking it's the voice of God.
They are used by the enemy to attack, slander, expose and neutralize strategic Christian advances and movements. It is a very powerful army, able to do great damage to the Lord's church, because their attacks comes from within. And because they are among us, it very difficult to spot this army.
If you listen to them carefully you will hear the voice of the accuser or the brethren. Though they can be very religious, refined & educated, and serving the Lord, though their speech is peppered with bible quotes and they recite many scriptural truths, the motivation of their heart is more for accusation than intercession.
They deal in the faults of others like a gambler deals with cards, exposing every sin, flaw or doctrinal error that a person has made. In pretending to be the sheep dog, defending the flock, they have actually divided us.
These are our own Christian brothers and sisters in the enemy camp, we are not fighting against them, but the powers that hold them captive. We must fight to set them free, and bring them back into the Lord's army.
The battle lines are drawn, we can NOT ignore this war any longer. We have lost too much ground and too many souls to this army, now we must fight for complete victory!

1 out of 5 stars Fraud uses free amazon advertising   April 25, 2008

When I saw that the person who listed this for alleged sale has it at $[...] and [...] it seems clear that it is listed for FREE advertising on amazon. God forbid anyone calls themselves a Christian and STEALS advertising to disseminate their view. Whatever anyone thinks of any particular minister, I would remind all not only of the warning to touch not His anointed and that the only sin that will not be forgiven is blaspheming the Spirit, according to the Bible. You better be sure enough of what you believe to risk your eternity on it.

2 out of 5 stars Needs to be Said, But...   January 19, 2008

I agree with Andrew Strom's concern for the "Charismatic Movement"... I saw and experienced much of what he reports -- the abuses are numerous, and the fall-out is prevalent. We left the institutional church at the same time he did, but over issues of legalism, which led to an understanding of the difference between what calls itself "church" and the Ekklesia of Jesus.

However, I found Mr. Strom's writing-style to be a bit abrasive, and his assessment of many of the former revivals to be one-sided. If those revivals were "of God", where is the lasting fruit? I believe that reviving that which is counterfeit is moot. What we need is a reformation or even a revolution -- an entire paradigm shift from what man has created, and to be restored to what Jesus had in mind when He died for us: Relationship. First with God, and then with each other. With Him as Head. With no one usurping His position, nor His purpose.

So, it's a decent read, and much is insightful about his observations, but I still sense too much of the zealot he claims has been softened by love for others... perhaps it's just his writing style, and he's entirely different, more another-loving in person. I can't tell, as I've never met him... and can only go on what I read.

(I do know that he has a penchant for signing people up to his multitudinous emailings, subscribing them without their permission, just because they've contacted him via email.)

One other thing: does anyone have any information about the image on the front cover of his book? It's an untitled woodcarving, of a man seeming to be peering "beyond the veil". I'm very curious about it, and would greatly appreciate receiving any sort of information about it -- artist, title, meaning, origins, etc. Thanks!

Andrew Strom has taken the courage to write this book...to identify the problems that cause many to reject CHRIST rather than reject the modern day religious system that IS NOT Christianity at all.
